MAKE 5 – Asymmetric Skirt

I must admit that this wasn’t my finest hour!

The Pattern is again from the GBSB book ‘From Stitch to Style’ and can be found here.  (External link, subject to removal without notice).

I traced the pattern, but must admit I didn’t iron my paper and as I was still quite a new sewer wasn’t as meticulous with cutting out and marking notches as I should have been.

This is a very tricky sew and I would not recommend it for beginners.

I did however learn how to insert a zip and how to use Gross Grain Ribbon as a waistband.

The fabric is a sort of velveteen – I found a couple of curtains in a charity shop and decided to use this to make the skirt.   It did fray a little – and this pattern works best with non-fray material as you will have raw edges where the yoke overlays the skirt panels.
